FREQUENT QUERIES AND MISTAKES:

1 – PAYMENT OF THE REGISTRATION FEE FOR THE EVENT PROVIDES THE RIGHT TO CBCE ANNUITY AND VICE-VERSA?

No, as payment of the registration fee only gives the right to participate in the event. In order to become a CBCE member, another annuity payment should be made. Therefore, those registering should check which payment category they correspond to on the event’s site. In the same way, when an associate is paying the CBCE annuity, he is not automatically registered for the event.

2 – IS THERE ANY RESTRICTION REGARDING INSERTING GRAPHS, TABLES AND IMAGES REFERRING TO THE WORK BEING SENT?

There is no restriction on inserting graphs, tables and images; however, there is no specific space on the SOAC system for sending these items and they should be incorporated in the text.

3 – IS THERE ANY RESTRICTION REGARDING SENDING WORK THAT IS STILL IN PROGRESS?

There are no restrictions, as in accordance with item 6 of the submission regulations “work will be evaluated according to the following criteria: suitability to the GTT theme; argumentative consistency; dialogue with literature and writing quality”.

4 – CAN THE SAME PIECE OF WORK BE SENT TO TWO GTTs?

According to item 5 of the submission regulations, the author should only indicate one Thematic Work Group (GTT) to which he will submit the work for consideration.

5 – CAN A SINGLE PIECE OF WORK BE SENT TO BE PRESENTED IN TWO FORMATS: ORAL COMMUNICATION AND POSTER?

According to item 2 of the submission regulations, each participant should indicate the chosen format for the work, as the work will not be used in a format different from that indicated by the author under any circumstances.

6 – CAN THE REGISTRATION PAYMENT BE MADE FOLLOWING ACCEPTANCE OF THE WORK?

No. In accordance with item 4 of the submission regulations, work will only be directed for analysis following payment of the event registration fee by at least one of the authors/co-authors.

7 – IS THERE A LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF AUTHORS FOR A SINGLE PIECE OF WORK?

No. However there is a limit to the number of pieces of work sent per author, as indicated in item 3 of the submission regulations: “independent of the format, each participant can send a maximum of 02 (two) pieces of work as author and/or co-author”.

8 – SHOULD THE ABSTRACTS IN PORTUGUESE, SPANISH AND ENGLISH CONSIST OF TWO FILES FOR THE WORK TO BE SENT BY SOAC – THE CBCE CONGRESS SUPPORT SYSTEM?

In accordance with item 7 of the submission regulations, two files should be sent:

- One with the complete text in Portuguese or Spanish with the title, notes and references, without identifying the author(s) but not requiring an abstract or keywords.

- The other with the complete text in Portuguese or Spanish, with the title, notes, references, abstracts in Portuguese, English and Spanish and keywords (in the three languages), identifying the author(s) and indicating the address, e-mail and technical resource necessary for Oral Communication at the bottom. This text should be sent in the Complementary Document item.

9 – DOES THE EVENT REGISTRATION PERIOD CLOSE ON 13/04/2009?

13/04/2009 (Monday) is the final day for sending work for evaluation. Therefore, anyone who is interested in sending work should register and send their submissions by this date. However for those who only wish to participate in the event without sending work can register on the event’s site until 18/09/2009 and only at the event location after this date.

10- WHY DO I NEED TO INSERT THE ABSTRACTS IN THREE LANGUAGES?

The system that is being used to manage work submitted to CONBRACE is called SOAC. As well as managing submissions, this system forms part of an international policy for free access to knowledge: work accepted and presented at the event will be available at a type of “on-line records”, which can be consulted in any place around the globe, connected to the world computer network. Therefore it is very important that the abstracts are presented in other languages, which are more universal than Portuguese. This is because any reader around the world will have access – firstly to the abstracts in three languages and can then download the file with the full text if he is interested in the text. Data that is completed in “metadata” also appears along with the abstracts, before the full text. This free access to knowledge process requires a little patience and effort from us, researchers, in the sense of learning about the file insertion system. Therefore, when we are familiar with the system, we will have access to the on-line records for dozens of scientific congresses from various parts of the world. Therefore, once again the CBCE, leads the field, presenting the academic community with a policy that universally expands access to work debated at CONBRACE. 11 – WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE FOR TEXTS THAT ARE TO BE SUBMITTED (INTRODUCTION, REVISION OF LITERATURE, METHODOLOGY, etc) ?

The regulations do not indicate a sequential structure for the text. Please be concerned with adhering to the information indicated on form (number of characters, margins, etc) and pay special attention to the evaluation criteria: suitability to the GTT theme; argumentative consistency; dialogue with literature and writing quality.
